chandigarh is a capital of punjab, blackbuck is a state animal, eastern goshawk is state bird, shisham.
wheat, barley, oil seeds, are some of the major crops grown in punjab.
punjabi is a language spoken in punjab.
lohri similar makarsakranti it is celebrated in the month of january,baisakhi-harvest festival of the Punjab region it is celebrated in the month of april ,gurpurab are some of festivals celebrated in punjab.Bhangra and gidda are folk dances of punjab.
tourist attractions of punjab are (golden temple,jallianwala bagh)in amritsur , rock garden in chandigarh,leisure valley.
bir moti bagh,bir bhunderhari, bir  dosanjh are wildlife santuaries in punjab.

Phulkari
The history and origin of phulkari is not easily traceable due to the lack of documentation. This beautiful art form is believed to have originated in the 15th centuary AD and further developed during reign of maharaja ranjit singh at that time much like today phulkari textiles were included in the bridal trousseau  and every occasion called for a differnt phulkari . Some historians  believe this  craft may have been influenced by percian art, where aform of embroidery called gulkari exists which has similar floral patterns  to phulkari .




MUD WALL PAINTING
The tradition of painting on the walls of homes and dwellings dates back to ancient times when the earliest humans sought security  in magical  drawings that were thought to prevent evil spirits from entering homes. Certain symbols were also used to express the wishes  of their creators such as wealth children and well being.
The oldest wall art in india is seen in the form of fresceos and rock art in the caves of  Bhimbetka  in Madhya pradesh. In punjab ,the art of mud wall painting is known as Chowk  poorana.

The paintings are made on festivel occasion like Dusshera, Karva chauth And Diwali.
QISSA
Qissa is a tradition of storytelling that is
believed to have come to India through
Migrants from the Arabian peninsula and modern - day Iran and Afghanistan.
Most of qisse tell stories of  love,  valour , honour and moral integrity. This stories are often told to children as bedtime stories .the qissa is also believed to have inspired folk music in punjab.Arts and crafts of punjab

history of punjab

The history of punjab dates back to the indus  valley civilisation,more than 4,000 years ago ,when the cities of harappa and mohenjodaro flourished here the mahabharat, set between the7th and 5th centuaries BC, is believed to have taken place in this region.

The region is also closely linked to the Ramayana, with lord ram’s  son lav and kush growing up in the forest of  punjab
In 1469,guru nanak was born in talwandi [now in pakistan] his followers are called sikhs but the foundation of presnt day punjab was laid by banda singh bahadur, a hermit who became a militry leader.banda singh  and his group of sikh fighters fought against mughal rule in 1709-10 and temporarily liberated punjab.

Charminar is as much signature of Hyderabad as the Eiffel tower of paris. It was built by the founder of Hyderabad Md.Quli Qutub Shah in 1591. The 4 graceful minarets stand at the heart of the city in the midst of the busy market.
He   built Charminar to commemorate the eradiction of a plague that was ravaging his kingdom  shortly after he shifted his capital from golconda to present-day  Hyderabad


        
                MECCA MASJID

The mosque is situated adjecent tocharminar .
A few bricks from mecca which are embedded 
in the walls of this impressive mosque gave it its name. 

 




          CHOWMOHALLA
This is palace that was the seat of asaf jahi dynasty and was once regarded as the very centre of hyderabad and nizams icial guests and royal visitors.built over 200 years ago.

The golconda fort, near hyderabad is one of the most prominent structures  in andhra pradesh. Originally a mud fort ,was built by the kakatiya  kings  of warangal during the 13th centuary. In 16th centuary it served as the capital of the qutub shahi  dynasty and was expanded into a massive fort  of granite extending around 5Km  in circumference. With
The capital at golconda nearby ,city of hyderabad became home to one of the most powerful Muslim Sultanates of the region and flourished as the center of diamond trade.

the golconda fort used to have a vault where the kohinoor and hope diamonds were stored at that time, golconda was only known diamond mine in the world.
